The Diabetes Lady helping you turn your life with diabetes around

"Welcome to my diabetes support program!  I am here to provide you with personalized coaching, education, and motivation to help you manage your diabetes effectively and live a healthier, happier life.

My coaching sessions are tailored to your unique needs and goals.  Whether you think you may have, are newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for a while, I work closely with you to help you develop a personalized plan that fits in with your life.  I will help you to understand the fundamentals of diabetes management, including the monitoring of blood sugar levels, aiding you in making healthy food choices, the importance of staying active, explaining the action of your prescribed medication, the importance of taking them and why.

In our, 1:1 education sessions, I will provide you with easy-to-understand information about your diabetes, potential complications, and practical ways for managing your diabetes.

I will help you to interpret blood results, help you plan appropriate balanced meals, how to incorporate simple exercise into your daily routine, and how to manage challenges that may present along the way.

Remember, I am not just here to provide you with information alone - I am here to inspire you and motivate you on your diabetes journey.

The Diabetes Lady is committed to supporting you every step of the way, encouraging you to make those positive changes and I will be most definitely celebrating your successes, no matter how insignificant you think they are.  I do recognise that living with diabetes is not easy and can be extremely challenging at times, but with the right support and mindset, you can, and will, overcome those obstacles life will throw at you.

So, if you just need a listening ear, help with making healthier choices, or a motivational boost to stay on track, I am here for you.  I know that together, we will enable you to empower yourself to take back control of your diabetes and live your best healthier life possible.

Let's start this journey together!"

Clinical experience

The start of my diabetes journey was with children and families living with Type 1 diabetes, back in 1991.  I had responsibility for 40 children and their families in Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

From there was Team Leader/ Manager of the Community Diabetes Nursing Team and in Preston, Lancashire.

Then I worked in Dubai UAE, based at The American Hospital.

Then South Lakeland implementing 'National Service Framework-Diabetes'.

Worked at National Level as a Nurse Consultant - Diabetes, in the East of England. Thoroughly enjoyed the role but missed the North West of England.

On my return home I was very lucky to work with the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital Trust, I worked alongside the Diabetes Specialist Nursing (DSN) Team led by Julie Brake (herself a Nurse Consultant - Diabetes) an amazing team.

My role was to work with and alongside Professor Jiten Vora as a Research Nurse for Hypoglycaemia, plus I worked as a 'Fail/Safe' DSN within Retinal Screening Research Clinic.

I left in 2013 and set up my Limited Company Diabetes Complete Care Ltd.

I was asked to put together an education programme for for Healthcare Professionals to a local 'Vanguard Site - Blackpool and Fylde'.  This I did covering from 'womb to tomb' accessing my years of contacts to design, present and facilitate a successful accredited education programme, with both Royal College of General Practitioners and Royal College of Nursing.

Throughout my career I have sat on National, Regional and Local Steering Groups. Have been an active member of the Regional NHS Clinical Senate.

Have worked within a General Practice allowing me to use my knowledge and experience with those struggling with their Type 2 diabetes and some living with Type 1 who have lost contact with their Diabetes Team.

I am presently working odd days as a 'Community Diabetes Specialist Nurse' and have had some great successes in engaging with people face to face and in helping them to put their diabetes into remission.
